2010 Awards

2010 Carman-Murrihy Medal

For the 2010 Awards Presentation, we decided to try a new venue and have a fairly informal function at Murphy's Makati. As usual, it was a very enjoyable evening and was well organised and well attended.

For the first time in PAFL history, the Carman-Murrihy medal was a tie between a Dingo and a Eureka! Congratulations to our Chris Judd look-alike in Andrew Egan who made it back-to-back Carman-Murrihy medals, and our best first year player in Dingo, Brett Maston. Both players had an excellent season and the fact that a player from each team won the medal, is testament to how close the PAFL season was with both teams finishing on equal points for the Premiership Season, with only percentage separating them.

Here’s how the voting ended up:

The Eurekas and the Dingoes finished on equal points with the Eurekas winning the 2010 Premiership only by percentage, showing just how close the teams and games were throughout 2010. Congratulations to the 2010 Premiers, the Eurekas who have now won three Premierships in a row!

Unfortunately, rain was the real winner this year with 6 out of a scheduled 18 games being completely washed out, in what was a disappointing and frustrating aspect of an otherwise fantastic season. That makes it 4 Premierships to the Dingoes and 3 for the Eurekas. 2011 is shaping up to be a cracker as the Dingoes will no doubt pull out all stops to try and regain the coveted PAFL Premiership Cup. PAFL looks forward to changing venues for 2011, joining up with Nomad Sports Club.
